FABRICATION LOOP

From Digital Model to Physical Object

Assistive technology rarely fits a single manufacturing process. A device may combine scanned geometry, printed housings, electronics, machined hardware, cast elastomers, and hand-finished components. Keeping these workflows together allows an idea to move directly from a digital model to a physical test.

The loop stays participant-led: co-designer review returns to every stage rather than moving in a one-way production line.

Participant-led fabrication loop: scan and model, print and prototype, machine and build, mold and cast, with co-designer review at every stage.

THE SHOP IS PART OF THE METHOD

The equipment matters. The feedback loop matters more.

Disabled co-designers can review digital models, handle physical prototypes, test fit and function, and direct the next iteration. Designers and fabricators can respond within the same working environment instead of sending each revision through a separate vendor.

The goal is not fabrication for its own sake. It is to build devices that can reduce pain, protect independence, or make an ordinary task possible.
