Build With the People Who Know the Need
Menderi Community is being developed as a place for disabled co-designers, families, builders, nonprofits, community groups, and professional teams to turn unmet needs into documented, open assistive technology projects.
Conversation Is Only the Beginning
Discord will provide open discussion, project discovery, technical questions, and dedicated project channels.
Approved projects will move into Menderi Project Workspaces, where teams can organize roles, tasks, files, design decisions, testing, and build documentation without leaving the platform.
Project teams will be able to publish completed models and build information to the Open Device Library. Projects involving code, scripts, parametric files, or advanced technical development may also connect to GitHub.
Anyone will be able to propose a project. The Menderi will approve which proposals become Project Workspaces.
Every project will begin with a disabled co-designer and a project lead. Open discussion will remain public, while participation in project files, decisions, and management will require an approved role.
One Broken Part. One Shared Project.
A wheelchair user breaks a cup holder that may cost hundreds of dollars to replace and take months to arrive.
The Community can help document the need, locate an existing model, open a Project Workspace, adapt or redesign the part, test the prototype, and publish the files and build instructions for others facing the same problem.
One person’s unmet need becomes a starting point others can improve and reproduce.
Clear Roles. Shared Work.
Project Workspaces will use separate permissions for discussion, files, and project management. Each team will establish a shared project ownership agreement before development begins.
The Menderi will initially approve workspaces and project leads, with trained community volunteers supporting moderation. Approved project leads may take on more responsibility as the Community grows.
